ClipVault ("we," "our," or "this extension") takes your privacy seriously. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use this browser extension.
2Data Collection
Data We Collect
This extension does not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information for its core features. We only store the following types of data on your device:
- Clipboard history: Text you copy on web pages, plus items you paste from the system clipboard into the vault, stored locally so you can search and reuse them
- Snippets and favorites: Templates and starred clips you choose to save
- User preferences: Language (system / English / Chinese), auto-capture toggle, and max clip length
- Payment cache: Local Pro membership status used to unlock paid features. If you purchase Pro, a payment email provided by the payment provider may also be cached locally
How We Collect Data
All feature data is stored locally on your device through the browser's local storage API (chrome.storage.local). We do not:
- Collect your browsing history
- Transmit feature data to any server we operate
- Share any data with third parties, except as needed to process Pro payments
- Use any analytics or tracking services
3Data Usage
We only use the collected data to:
- Provide clipboard history, search, favorites, and snippets
- Remember your preferences
- Export or import a local JSON backup when you ask us to
- Verify Pro membership so paid features can be unlocked
Clipboard text is stored only on your device. We never upload copied content to any server.
4Data Storage
All clips, snippets, favorites, settings, and the payment cache are stored locally on your device using the browser's local storage API. Optional JSON backups you export are saved as files you choose. You can delete this data at any time through your browser's extension management page.
5Data Sharing
We do not share, sell, or transmit your clipboard data to any third parties. Copied text remains entirely on your device. The only exception is Pro payment verification, described below.
6Permission Usage

Used to store clips, snippets, settings, and Pro membership cache locally on your device. Clipboard content is never uploaded to any server.
clipboardRead Permission
Used only when you tap paste-from-system-clipboard in the panel, to import the current clipboard text into the local vault.
clipboardWrite Permission
Used to copy a selected clip or snippet back to the clipboard when you ask us to.
downloads Permission
Used solely to save a JSON backup file to your device when you export. No file data is uploaded anywhere.
Host Permission (http://*/* and https://*/*)
Used to run a content script that listens for copy events on web pages so captured text can be saved locally. Page content other than the copied text is not stored or uploaded.
Host Permission (extensionpay.com)
Used only when you choose to purchase or restore Pro membership, so the payment flow can complete and membership status can be verified.
7Third-Party Services
This extension does not integrate any third-party analytics services, advertising services, or data collection services for its core features.
Pro membership is processed by ExtensionPay (extensionpay.com). If you purchase Pro, ExtensionPay may process your payment details and provide a paid status (and optionally an email) so the extension can unlock paid features. That membership cache is stored locally. Your feature data is never sent to ExtensionPay or to any other third party.
8Data Security
Since feature data is stored locally on your device, data security depends on your device security. We recommend that you:
- Keep your browser and operating system updated
- Use strong passwords to protect your device
- Do not share your device with others
9Your Rights
You have complete control over your data:
- You can delete the extension and all its data at any time through your browser's extension management page
- You can clear your browser's local storage data
- You can uninstall the extension at any time
10Children's Privacy
This extension is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11Privacy Policy Changes
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any significant changes will be notified through extension updates. We recommend that you review this privacy policy periodically to stay informed.
